Ad Raaijmaker’s Akkerbouw en Gewasverzorging lies exactly between Nationaal Landschap Het Groene Woud and the urban area in Best, Brabant. It is a contract worker company and a training company. Ad and Jolanda love to share their knowledge with others.  It also keeps them young and on the move. Two students – one of geotechnics and the other of plant cultivation – recorded all information flows in a clear flowchart. This was a good starting point for a comprehensive automation project.

In the green clay area near Bedum in Groningen lies the dairy farm of fifty-somethings Harm and Marjan van der Giezen. Ten years ago they were able to start all over again here, choosing a milking robot. ‘We don’t need to be ahead, but we do want to keep up with the times,’ says Marjan. ‘At the time, you had to search high and low to find someone near you who could help with a breakdown if you left home. Now you get a notification on your smartphone and you can solve most of it yourself, wherever you are. We live in wonderful times, don’t we?’
